Did Dynaformer, Big Brown, Smarty Jones or even 1978 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew rest their necks on the wood for these pens? Maybe! I live in the middle of thoroughbred horse country and the white oak wood for these pens came from the fence boards of a very famous horse farm that was the home of these great horses here in Woodford County Kentucky. They were made for a special group of folks using Le Roi Elegant LB kits from Smitty's Pen Works. These are GREAT kits from one of IAP's very own. I don't have a good lighting setup so the really great high gloss CA shine doesn't show up in the picture like it actually is in real life.

Mike; As I was looking at your pens, the air was suddenly filled with the smell of horse ----, never mind. Very nice looking group of pens. One of the reasons why they use white oak is because of its strength. It also can bend without breaking, and the tanic acid in the wood keeps insects away. Jim S
