I managed to turn the below pens using my new lathe, which I purchased on Saturday from fellow IAP member LIGGET.

Thanks again Mark!

The new lathe works a dream, and the difference between the new and old lathe is like night and day!

Below are the pens that I have turned, but just for fun I will leave the woods for you to guess????

There are 4 types of wood in total, and some are duplicated.

Hard to tell from the photos, but I will guess pau rosa, african blackwood, spalted elm and Z=ziracote? But one looks like spalted beech, don't think its zebrano.

How did I do?

Hi All,

Pikebite - you are correct on all counts except the Z- although you mentioned Zebrano which is correct! Well done.

John - Dont worry, Mark has just upgraded to a bigger and better lathe, so will still be turning.

Pikebite - I apologies for the photo's as they are poor. I need to do some work on my camera skills, and get a small photo booth set up, to eliminate shadow etc.
