First one from a recent box of large shells.I can only imagine the impact fore and aft from one of these loaded cartridges. Made a beaut balanced fountain pen from bits and pieces .

Love it! And yes, I bet that would come back hard! The .458 Winchester is the biggest I've fired--shot the three rounds that we in it (Model 70), and that was quite enough of that.

Such cartridges were used in Africa for the real big game- elephants, lions, rhinos, etc. Now there are even bigger cartridges- if you can afford the firearms and can handle the recoil.

Is the nib, feed and cap a repurposed commercial pen? I've been contemplating going that route for a change form kits and not going completely kitless.

Sorry Patrick no big deal in essence the pen is made from parts much the same as any other pen, I have lost track of the sources. At nigh on 83 yrs this is perhaps a one off using my imagination and a rare new cartridge, not a step by step how to.
