Hi all,
I finally got brave enough to take the risk with some Koa. Here is a PSI Classic kit. Unfortunately the picture was taken with my old Cybershot and doesn't do it justice. This shape is the new shape that I have been doing with my classics that tends to balance the pen much better since the regular shape of the classic leaves it a litte top-heavy.

That came out great Alan! Nice job!

Michael, I agree with Tom. At some point, you just gotta bite the bullet. Just remember to take it slow with any new wood, and to use sharp tools, and you should be OK.

Mike, the profile is better seen in my album, probably best seen with the boxelder burl pen. With the koa, keep your tools sharp and be gentle, you should do fine.

Very nice, Alan. I too like koa as a pen material. Some of the nicest pens that I've made have been in koa...it is a beautiful wood.
