Some fellow in Hawaii sent me this in return for Ebony. At least his Koa won't split - or will it?? Pens - 2-10-10 Koa black band.jpg

I have gotten several Hawiian woods including Koa from IAP member Kalia.
To the best of my knowledge koa isn't prone to splitting the way Ebony is ... Of course any wood used for pens should be dry.

Koa is good stable wood. I don't think you will have any problems. Mine Koas have not split. For that matter, my Ebony pens have not split. I suspect that the splitters were not properly dried in the first place.

You Koa pen is great! It is beautifully turned with your signature centerband and a lovely finish. Top quality pen.
