I finally got the kit in the mail !! Since seeing this piece in the catalog I've seen it this way.
All the foil work was hand cut and applied, the shield is made with copper sheeting as well as copper tape.
I had alot of fun making this pen but I must admit that building a pen that looks like this was a no brainer whit the name of this kit.
Thanks for looking
C&C welcome.
Mark

Very creative. Looks as if you found a writing instrument from that period (they didn't have twist pens though). It is a great looking pen.

Well done Mark

the way you painted the four corners to give different colors is great

you do realize though that someone is going to ask you to do their family crest

good luck with that one:biggrin:

Mark, You have definitely hit a "Home Run"
(Sorry about that, but with the opening games of your Baseball season a Double Header held here in Sydney, over the last weekend, I am still full of it.)

Superb Blank, Intriguing Plate work, with a Shield protecting his rear.
Excellent Fit and Finish
Great Job.
Brian.

neat looking pen.

I think I would have done the shied in the silver with copper cross in middle.

You guys keep posting these photos and I will have to break down and make a few of them.

Hi Phil.
That's not a bad idea! maybe all of the " foil masters" should get together and build a pen that shows our individual "vision" and style.
The Zen has been done for more then a year and plenty of the process info has been passed around.
Wadda ya think?

I like it. I bet there are things we have not even considered being made.
