I made one of those tonight, too.

If you have a caliper, can you measure the overall length of your material, please.

(The instructions gave a dimension, which I question---it does not match what I ended up with and my pen works fine---refill comes out the right distance, IMO---what is your thinking???)

Oops! The one on the right is the pewter with Madrone burl.

Ed. The overall length of the tube is 2.720 but I see what you mean. I don't know why they show a shorter tube but mine work fine. Just putting the caps on the antique brass has been a problem.
