I haven't posted here in a while... Been turning a lot of "not a pen's".
Czardine, Rachel (12 yrs old), came out to the shop yesterday and wanted to turn a pen. This is entirely her design - even the wood she selected and had me cut from a much larger chunk of rosewood, so she could get the contrasting line between the brown and cream-colored lines.
Sanded to 1000 grit and finished with Behlens master turning polish and buffed with briwax.

Bill:
Cocobolo is part of the rosewood family. Even Rosewood can be very different, from tree to tree and especially from region to region. This is honduran rosewood. I have turned cocobolo that looks similar to this, and some cocobolo that I have turned is much darker (more browns and reds) when you find a piece that has both heartwood and sapwood, as this one does, the appearance (and turning characteristics) are similar.
