Just a Cocobolo Burl Statesman

I got my wood from Nolan yesterday, so of course I had to put aside what I was working on so I could cut, drill and glue to make one. This is a full size Statesman with one of Lou's SF nibs installed. The finish is CA. This is beautiful wood. Lou already posted a picture in Nolan's topic in the classifieds, so he was the first to get a pen made from this stuff.

Hmmm...If you calculate the actual board foot (12"x12"x1) cost of the cocobolo blank used in this pen, it works out to $1,433.60, based on a 5"x .75" x.75" blank. That's got to be some of the rarest and most expensive wood around.

The choice of the full size Statesman in Rhodium/22k Gold finish says alot about what you consider a most worthly kit!
