Hard to tell what the Blank is, as everything is a shade of grey.

The blank is from a black walnut disk that I was going to make a clock out of, but it split while drying. In fact, the darker piece was cracked and I didn't notice it until after gluing it to the tube. However CA and BLO and some careful turning made it unnoticeable.
I make the ring out of the another scrap of the walnut that I had because the back piece was too short.
The kit was from a blowout that occurred last week.
It turned out nicer than I hoped considering it is made from stuff my wife wanted to throw away.
