my first pen in a LONG time. i've been in the process of moving, starting school again, working, etc. and finally got around to setting up the shop last weekend. i've had some juniper just waiting to get turned from some logs i stumbled across a while back.

the original closed end was drilled through (doh!) so i had to glue the piece i cut off to begin with and thus the line due to my crummy glue job... :D my first closed end, my first time using a collet chuck (very nice) and BTW, used don's method of drilling a 1/4" hole into the bottom of the blank to mount on a regular mandrel.

juniper with some baron parts and some sedona parts.

Very nice! I guess I'm going to have to go dig up some old juniper bush somewhere. That's really nice!

Very good job on the form and shape!

I would have been tempted, in a blowout, to use a piece of blackwood or even a piece of acrylic as the "end" piece to highlight the back end of the pen a bit.

I like the way you worked the center band. Very simple and elegant.
