I found this piece of burl in my scrap pile, finish is CA but the photo does not really capture depth or shine proper.

Can anyone identify this wood for me. Thanks!

Looks like it could be oliepod burl or morrell burl, you better send the rest of your scrap pile to me so I can find any similar ones and confirm it [:D][:p]. Really nice piece of wood and great looking pen.

Since I can't imagine it looking any better in person, you should send it to me right away.[:D]
Seriously though, great looking pen, finish, and picture.

Mark, these scoundrels are trying to take advantage of an innocent Scot! Stay away from them, and send it to an Irish person for evaluation!!

My address to follow by PM. [:D][;)][:D]

Beautiful work, definitely a single malt kind of pen! [;)]

You are right, the picture does not show the finish well enough. Vased on the poor image it looks like dull, plain pine to me, some kind of fir, Douglas perhaps from a Christmas tree.
I got the photo taking tunned up a bit I'll take good pictures for you and keep the pen for further examination. You can find another scrap piece anyway.[:D][:D][:D]
Congrats,
Alex
