Looks Great. Every time I turn maple burl I am happy with the results. I've been turning some spalted ones lately, but I am still a sucker for the plain white burls like this one.

Nice work.

I like using Maple especialy when I stain using food coloring. First red then Yellow comes out like a Texas burnt orange. sells well here.

I love birdseye maple. Great looking pen. I think sometimes we get too caught up in finding the exotic foreign hard to find pieces that we ignore what's right under our noses.

While the Americana no longer comes in a fountain pen the nib from a Jr Gent II has the same threads. The problem is that the Americana is a snap pen so you would have to make your own plastic snap in cup. The Je Gent II screws together.
