Hi,

Well I'm on a roll. This is an Emperor I made the other night using the simulation ivory that CSUSA sells.

I have a hard time photographing this pen for some reason, I am open to comments on the pen and how to make this image better.

Another great looking pen. The photo looks underexposed. The hardest things to photograph are plain white and plain black, when you have both in the photo, you have to choose between no detail in the white or no detail in the black.

Hi Frank,

That is the picture. I am having a hard time getting the white balance to work and still see detail on the hardware. I have two 500 watt construction lamps set up at 45's to the light box, The ivory looks a bone white in hand.

Jim,

Great looking pen!

I have had the exact same problem with my pictures that you are having and it really bothers me. The easiest and best solution that I know of is a gray card. I bought two 8x10 cards off eBay for around $10. Here is a good link that describes how it works.

Here are some posts that have pictures that I have taken using the gray card to do the color correction.

(first picture only)

(all three pictures)

It is more work to use a gray card and you have to have software that knows about gray cards (like Photoshop) but if you really want to easily improve the color accuracy in your pictures its a great way to go.
