I can see how I've progressed through the 3 or 4 pens I have made. It's so much fun! I told TJSeaGrove that I would post a pen from the collection he sent me, and this is it! It was already cut to size with copper tubes glued...but it's the turning that counts, right?? Right! This one...is MINE!

Here she is.

It's funny (and scary) how fast things can change! I just went to drill out a resin blank BSea sent me and my jacobs chuck somehow came out of the tailstock. Luckily the bit broke quickly and the blank shattered, no projectiles worth mentioning.

Lesson learned, but sadly it was the blank BSea really wanted me to turn. : / Always next time.

Don't worry Grant,

Look at this post to get an idea of what it should have looked like. I'm not sure which one blew up, but these pens both were made from blanks from the same batches that I sent to you.

It was the first! Nooooo! haha I'll live though, because the second one that page is one that I have as well, and it is just as nice looking. I ordered a couple Atrix ballpoint kits today as well as a few "exotic blanks". I'll post those next.

Way to go!!!! There is no turning back for you now either!!

Glad you are having fun and nice to see you took those blanks and created such a nice finished pen. Make sure to keep the first one you did as that is your $10,000 pen. I always have people hold it and tell them the cost then pause for the response. Sometimes it takes a minute but they will ask why it costs so much. I then respond "It is my first pen and if you want it, it will cost $10,000 to get it from me.". They always laugh then hand it back. Still looking for a taker... ;)

Have fun,

Tom

Yep, this one is mine. No one will be getting it, though my Aunt wants it. haha

She ordered a couple kits for me, and I won at the casino, so i'm looking for another kit for her. I have some great burl and spalted blanks i'm thinking of making her something out of. She's getting an Atrix ballpoint and hot pink cactus blank.

edit: I just turned the broken blank a little bit to see what I had....now i'm really mad at myself haha. That blank was/is gorgeous!

Do you have enough for a Sierra or maybe an Aero? At the very least, you can use it for practice making a custom finial cap.
