I've had this wood and pen laying around for a couple years. I think the Burl is brown mallee. Unfortuanately the pen kit has a flaw in the cap that I didn't notice until I took pictures. I suppose it's too late to do anything about it now. I don't even remember which vender I bought it from. Thanks for looking.

It does kind of look like Thuya Burl thou.

It could be thuya but it didnft have that distinguished smell and was not oily. But, I also failed to label the blank. I'm no burl expert except I know it's a Burl. Thanks.

You have turned a very nice pen. What grabs my appreciation is the excellent contrast of the burl eye groupings to the background wood. The eye-figure is highlighted in a super nice way. Beautiful finish to bring it all together! Well done.:good: :good:

Mike, flaw...what flaw, all I can see is magnificent. In the finish, in the craftsmanship, in the wood. Big mag dude. MAG.
