My wife is of Irish descent and I have been wanting to make her a pen representing a token her heritage. A few weeks back I sent a PM to Woodlvr (http://www.penturners.org/forum/member.php?u=2173) after seeing a post he made showing a few Irish Bog Oak blanks he had. I asked if he had any that I could purchase to make this special pen for my wife.

Somehow in the negotiating process I ended up with a small flat rate box of some very fine blanks including 2 IBO's and then this gentleman told me my money was not good enough for him and insisted instead that I show my pen when I finished it.:biggrin:

My photo skills stink, but here are a few shots of the finished pen.

This pen gave me the opportunity to use a "new to me" finish product from PSI which I really like. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKFRICT2.html I found this stuff to be the Bees Knees and look forward to using it on other woods as Oak is probably not the best testimony for any finish with all of it's wild grain.

My most sincere and heart felt thanks to Woodlvr (Mike) for not only helping me obtain this hard to find wood, but also for his kind generosity in sharing his wood stash with a total stranger like me. IAP is the greatest group on the entire internet and I am very proud to be a member here.
