Brain (USAFVET98) made one very similar to this. He was kind enough to share his "method of dying" the wood. So I thought I'd give it a go.

It's Curly Maple on Gun Metal dyed blue, and I'm really starting to like slimlines.

Comments and Critiques welcome!

Zack,

If I can ask, what method did you use to dye the wood? It looks more vivid than what I have been able to do.

Thanks

Kevin

It's a very long and involved process as mentioned.... not really, just some food coloring on a paper towel. One pass and done (and a little touch up). The food coloring I used was "Neon" if that matters. It's all my wife had in the house.

Awesome job and the finish is beautiful. I dread the time consumption of this method, but it turns out great! LOL. It looks really nice with quilted maple too. I am going to try some spalted woods when I get some time..
