Received some Alternative Ivory from Froggie(Addictive), learnt a lot. when drilling try not to go all the way, see pic 1, I went too far in Pic 2 and crack!, fortunately I had cut it extra long so was able to use it.
To trim, use a sander as in pic 3, if you try a trim tool it will more than likely shatter the blank, once it is drilled be wary about using the bandsaw unless you have a blade with many teeth. I used a hand fret saw to cut off excess then milled it with the sander. Once the blank is ready, I was extra cautious and put a small ring of medium CA on a piece of cardboard(opposite side of the sandpaper) and turned the ends in it, this was just to make sure I didn't blow out the ends when turning. Then you can see it turns like resin, but it is fairly hard. I sharpened OFTEN! Many times when turning I usually try to go longer than I should instead of sharpening; now if I think" should I sharpen it??" then I just do the sharpening, has saved the day many a time.
The photos are of the Imperial Fountain pen (Gold), finished as per Froggies snake skin blanks, I was very pleased how this came out. Amos, now it is up to you, what thinkest thou? Amos:)

Lovely work and great combination.

I turn a fair amount of alternative ivory, I love it! You did very well and I like the clean simple lines you chose.

I sell a few Imperials a year with the same material, my daily user is a rhodium Emp FP with alternative ivory, I love it's feel.

Again great work;)
