Jimbo there is a fair bit of work that goes into blanks before turning them,
Arjudy these are what l use for the finishing,
1)scotch brite sanding pads in 3 colors for the different grades, cost a$1 and they last a long time and can be washed out, l sand with water and the pads
0000 steelwool
2)l use Kenco polishing cloth and brasso
3)i polish with Dursol Autosol shine
4)Meguiars mirror glaze /wax
