Irish Bog Oak on a Chrome Baron Rollerball. Special Order pen for someone that also bought a Turkish Walnut Baron for his brother. I had to swap the Nib with the one off my Dragonhide Pen as I was out of Rollerball kits, so I have a fountainpen now too.

Very nice! I think you got the best end of the trade deal; I'd take a fountain pen over a roller ball any day. Did we ever get to see the Turkish Walnut pen?

if not, here it is. Not the wild grain of some Turkish Walnut, but it has nice curl and very tight grain for walnut.

Both look a lot better, more depth and shine, in person. I need to try to get a lacquer dipped pen photoed and see if that improves it. The pic on bottom is more representative of what the walnut actually looks like.

That is a nice bog oak. I'm interested in turning a couple, if I can locate someone with blanks...

I'm curious, how much work was it to turn? Pretty easy?

They aren't too bad. It's basically a piece of stained English (er, Irish?) Oak. The staining process just takes a couple thousand years is all. ;)
