I only have Yew for Eyes

I got this great piece of Yew (from BB, I think) with some terrific figure and lots of eyes.



The "penmanship" is nothing special, but I like the way this came out and thought I'd share (although the picture, perhaps, doesn't show it off so well, either).

In my basement I have right now a yew root burl drying. From what I saw at the cut ends, it has a lot of figure and lots of eyes. Just have to wait some time, this fall I will cut it up. Hope to get maybe 20 pens out of it. Unfortunately, there were three or four more, but when I came home, the landscaper had dug them up and cut the to shreds, one was left intact and I rescued it from the shredder.

Fir sure, I am gonna have to get some of this wood. I really pine for it. I will have to spruce up my shop to do it credit, but that is oak with me.
