I've seen a bunch of the kitless people making pens with rings and I always stayed away. I finally bit the bullet and tried it. I also finally made a "boring" black pen. I would love to hear what everyone thinks. This is a little smaller with a 5mm bock nib. It has 12mm threads cap to body and 10mm threads section to body. It is cartridge/converter fill. I measures just over 5 1/2" long and 5 1/4" long uncapped. The cap doesn't post. The ring was made on the metal lathe from 6061 aluminum and I have to say I was surprised how well it buffed and polished up.

Beautifully done! I think that mastering the "little black pen" is definitely a mark along the road of pen making. If you can do that - and do it well (as in this case) - then the rest of it is cake! :)

Congrats on a beautiful pen.

It looks great! I've made only 5 kitless pens to date and none with a ring. I've been thinking of trying one also and I hope it turns out as well as yours!
