Well,

here is a new pen that I made tonight. The material is compressed cotton fibres that have been thoroughly saturated in resin.

Or were they, pre-stiffened, then cast as one group?

Since it is basically some shirt material that's been stuffed with resin, does this give a whole new meaning to the term "stuffed shirt?"[:0][:D]

Well actually, it was more like sheet material, so maybe it was "getting between the sheets"? [}:)]
