I like the color and texture of the resin and I think it would look great even without the cactus. The cactus adds a nice bonus.

Very cool looking Angela, I like the way the cactus isn't seen all over. It adds another dimension to the look of the pen. Really pretty!

Thanks for the comments everyone. I gave it to my friend today, who asked for it for his wife for her b'day and he seemed very pleased. The stuff I used for the tealish color came from AC Moore and it's called Pearl Ex Pigments 681 Duo Blue-Green. It's in a small plastic jar and was just so pretty in the jar I had to try it, I didn't really expect it to come out as nice as it did, and I am wishing I'd cast some of just the color!
