Those who attended the Midwest Penturners Gathering saw some of these blanks. I admonished one and all that they are NOT "turner-friendly" but a few daring souls bought them anyhow (at $5 a pop, its a little risky). So, just thought I would turn a couple last night to reassure myself that they CAN be made into pens, successfully.

Don't drill all the way through, cut off the ends, Face the ends carefully - sharp mill, not a lot of pressure - Turn with sharp tools - I actually did accomplish "shavings". And, careful at the ends, roll your skew.

THERE!! PIECE OF CAKE!!!!

Comments welcome, feel free to cheer and throw quarters!!!

I KNEW I should have tried those things. My daughter would have grabbed them, too. (Maybe if she sees these, I can distract her enough to pry the pink blanks loose...)

Laurie,

They are a resin that likes to shatter in production. As I have become more comfortable with the skew, my "finished percentage" has improved. These went without event - no breakage.

Thanks for asking, sorry it wasn't clear earlier.[:)][:)]
