These two Christmas gift pen are, for me, heritage pens.

The first one is crafted from spalted maple that I inherited from my brother, and I am proud to be able to carry on the passion of the craft. I've had the wood for a while, but wasn't ready to turn it until now because it had to come out right. This one was for my mom.

The second pen was an honor to make. It is from the teak deck of the WWII battleship USS North Carolina. Great fit for the patiot hardware. This is special to me because my gradfather was in 3rd ID USMC at Iwo Jima, and the USS North Carolina was on station there. This one was for my dad.

Being able to craft something of meaning is truly a privilege and honor, and one of the things I love about this craft.

Both are very well done! Fit-n-finish is spot on...wouldn't change a thing!
The use of the special timbers is a bonus.

Very nice pens! Using some type of historic wood or wood with a history behind it always sets a pen apart.
