I made one of the antique pewter, and one of the antique brass kits.I thought it would be neat to use Knight stamps from England on the one,and the other is a neat piece of stabilized Cherry Burl that I recieved as a gift from "Nittany Lion,"Steve here on the IAP ( Thanks Steve!!! )

That blank has some nice figure, and there was a lot of this neat aqua color in it,that mostly got turned away, but still has some color to it.It's got that rugged look that I though would look good on this kit.

The stamps show Henry the Fifth ( 1387-1422 ) & Robert the Bruce ( 1274-1329 ) and one corner has Owain Glynder ( 1354- 1416 )

Next one I do,I'll put Owain's up front, and then the 4th in the series is the Black Prince ( 1330-1376 )so I get all of them on there.

I also plan on using these cool stamps from St.Vincent that I ordered, that show the Knights of King Arthur's Court on them, for a couple of tubes in the future

Here they are,I'll see if this link works.. Scroll to the bottom of the page...

These kits have some QC issues......I'm glad that I read here on the IAP the thread about the cap-glue issure that Ed told us how to use an 8mm barrel trimmer shaft to ream out the excess glue build-up in the end cap so it sits all the way down,on the brass kit. This one had a lot in there! I lucked out...I didn't even know I had that tool, but when I first started out I bought the big kit but never used it.

On the pewter one, they didn't get any glue beteen the clip and the dimpled pieces,so the clip and the dimpled parts would spin free, with it pressed in tight. You could zing the dimpled parts just like a bearing!

I figured out that if you flood the clip ring, and the 2 dimpled parts with blue lok-tite,and find a hollow spacer that fits just right on the outside edge of the end dimpled part, you can put it in a vice tightly for awhile til the lok-tite sets. That fixed that.On the nib-end,they glued the dimpled part on the tube crooked,so it makes it look like you didn't square the tube flat.I couldn't do anything about that.

So I think I'll wait a couple of months to order the other 3 or so kits......maybe by then the kinks will have been worked out.

The trannies are really nice and smooth on these,I think theses kits are based on the Civil War kits.

I think they are pretty neat.Just the thing for " Slayin' Dragons" everyday at work!

Thanks for lookin'!

Excellent work Steve.

Thank you for the mini-review of the kits. Like yourself, I think I'll hold off on purchasing any for a while and give PSI a chance to get the QC corrected.

Here's how the King Arthur's Court stamps look on the tubes. They are sealed,& ready for the ca coats now.

I really like these,so I ordered another set of 8.I goofed one up,so I can make another, plus another 3.These are such big stamps, just 1 covers almost the whole tube,so you can really have a collection, with each pen highlighting a stamp.

Wish me luck that they all turn out?

Thanks for lookin'!

Steve

Love your idea and the Blanks,
A touch of Merlin's Magic must have guided you.
Can't wait to see them Finished.
A not so silly suggestion, Steve.
How about you display them, vertically around a Round Table?
Can't help myself, I am excited.
Brian.

That's a great idea,Brian!

Maybe I could make a round table pen stand with the scroll saw.

Thanks for the suggestion,and comments.
