We are having a fun little contest at PNPTA.org on halloween pens. This is my entry. I don't cast yet so I had to come up with something else.
It is made from black ABS pipe (vent, drain and waste pipe in a house). I cut the pipe in strips, it only about 1/4 in thick. I glued two pieces together, than I scroll sawed the bats in the pipe and filled the holes with epoxy mixed with orange paint. When that dried I glued the two pieces to another two pieces that I had scrolled and filled. That gave me a 1 in. thick piece to make the pen blanks out of. Had to do this twice because I needed top and bottom blanks. I than took it to the lathe and turned the pen. Took me a long time and many attempts to figure out how to glue the pipe so it would stay together. You can see I need to work on my scrolling some, but hey, it's for fun.
