Tough Australian timber that has the hairiest of barks.

Features of this hard timber are its distinctive medullary rays.

Pics show a cut log, a slice across the log, pen blanks cut with the grain, against the grain.

Pen using against the grain blanks.

Boring a 7 mm hole is difficult the drill could easily overheat, polishes to a top shine.

You folks down under have some of the strangest things on this planet, also some of the most beautiful timbers and minerals. It looks like the Hairy Oak could be a bit hard to drill, but what a pretty wood, your pen looks great, and the photo spread is informative, thanks for sharing.
