The story behind this...............
I was looking for something besides antler for my casing pens and was thinking about trying leather. Well, this past Memorial Day weekend LOML and I were in Fredericksburg when I spotted a small piece of this cowhide. I though this may make an intresting pen if I can glue a strip onto a tube. First couple of tries didn't turn out well, the glue made the hide stiff. This last time I tried contact cement. It seems to work OK. The seam is still a little noticable on the back side, need to work on getting a tighter seam. Don't know how well the fur will hold up though. If it does, I my next try will be to find some deer hide. And no, I didn't try glueing it with hide glue.
