In January, a friend at church gave me a guitar. I wanted to make him a thank-you pen, so my brother Josh (JDPens) asked for suggestions on what wood to use in the pen. There were some great suggestions, and BRobbins629 generously sent me an assortment of woods including Mahogony, Sitka Spruce, and Fiddleback Maple to help with the project. We also picked up some pickguard material from a local guitar repair shop. Here is the end result; it's a chrome plated Mahogony Sierra with pickguard accents.

Thanks to everyone who helped with suggestions and a special thanks to Bruce for the wood. :D

Looks like the wood found a good home. A pen with a good story behind it is always more interesting. Well designed and executed. Nice job on the laminations. Making music and making pens are two great hobbies. Enjoy them both.

That is a one nice pen the design is very attractive. Your friend will like the thought that went behind the pen as well.
