First pen photos with the new camera.

I got myself a Nikon D7100 a couple of weeks ago, been too busy playing with the camera to make any pens ever since.
So I made a date with the shed and completed this Lucida so I could test the camera out with my light tent/box.

Thanks Guys.
This new camera has put my photos up another notch, so I am happy about that. Still some improvements I want to make with my setup to try for another notch higher again, fingers crossed.

This blank, I backpainted with cheap silver nailpolish. It gives it a nice subdued look. I was tempted to use my usual black paint, which would have lifted the colours a lot more, but I am happy with how it looks with the chrome pen.

What lens/aperture were you using with the new shots? They look great!

I use an old Nikkor 55D f2.8 micro, for my pen photos. Its a good old lens, nice and sharp.

I usually use f16, but I have a feeling I may have used f18 on these photos to try and get a bit more DOF.

I think a Canon would have made a better photo...JUST KIDDING! Beautiful pen and I wish I could take photos like that, very, very nice.
