Our 6 yo granddaughter is spending the weekend with us & I took her to Home Depot with me this morning. She saw the rack of decorative duct tape and wanted this roll. She loves to make things, so I asked her what she wanted it for. She didn't know - she just liked it. I asked her if she would like to make a pen with it & her eyes lit up.

Here's what she wound up with - she pressed all the parts into the tubes and I helped her cut & wrap the tape around the tubes. Fun time for all!

I saw a sign in a bait shop one time that said "God does not count the time spent fishing with a child against our allotment." I believe the same could be applied here, but to be honest if he counted it double it would still be worth it.
