A gorgeous piece of plum

We had a very bad ice storm in January and it took out one of my 35 yo plum trees. The wood is like no other that I have ever seen. It has vivid pinks, reds, yellows and browns. I cut some for bowl, pen and bottle stopper blanks. This pen is the fist project that I have used it for and it believe that it is absolutely awesome! The blank that the pen is resting on is also from the same tree. Quite a bit of the wood is loaded with burl eyes. :glasses-cool:

Plum is one of the most beautiful woods to turn bowls from that i have ever used. Especially wild plum with voids
