Sometimes you just gotta go with a beautiful piece of a regular old hardwood.

Black walnut chrome jr gent 2 with custom finial and pens plus finish.

C&C responded to defensively. Haha. JK.

The look is so very classic and I also think with the finish you have put on makes the walnut wood a perfect choice to this traditional look... a great detail touch is the finial.

Love it Dan. I just wish there was a way to pop off that centerband on the new Gent 2 kits to customize it. Nice job on the finial!

I agree with Steve about the center band. Just not a fan of the black on many of the pens...however, sometimes, it just accents your blank and makes a pen special.

As for your work and the blank,

All First Class! Really Great job!

I have used some walnut left overs from our family room flooring for pens. You can really find some nice grain patterns!

Great job, get all the walnut wood you can, I understand there is a bug out there trashing the walnut tree

That's one gorgeous piece of walnut. I've used a lot of walnut in a lot of projects over the years, but I've never had a piece that looked like that.

Dan..I love your wood finishes. I am not really a wood-pen guy, but I may become one if I could achieve your finish. I have made about 6 CA wood pens; and I would give mine a B+. Would you mind sharing your process with me/us?

Thank you!

Tony, check out the pens plus thread I started to begin. I'll post my very simple routine soon.

It couldn't be much easier. Super simple which is why I'm Doug more of this and less ca.

This finish is not quite the heavy ca result, but is pretty darn good.
