pen kit finish is TiN gold. The wood is a mystery pterocarpus species. I bought a slab from Berea many years ago. They did not know what it exactly was so they called it Cambodian paduak burl since it came from Cambodia. My guess is that it is pterocarpus macrocarpus. It is very similar to amboyna but the live edge has zero sapwood and that the macrocarpus specie is indigenous to SE asia whereas the indicus specie seems to be more prevalent further south. Finish is an unknown number of coats of gloss lacquer.

Beautiful pen! I love the look of lacquer. As a matter of fact I have a quart on it's way to me right now. In time my goal is to turn out a finish as nice as yours. That jpen sets a pretty high standard for me to meet.

Great work!
