Had an afternoon free of work and worries.
Went and seen a friend who is my first mentor.
We turned a few pens together. These are the two I did.

C&C welcomed.

The top one is Caribbean Cherry..... The other is Rosewood.

Not bad for a guy who engraves stone :biggrin:

So...what did you use for finishing?


After sanding, I wiped it down with a denatured Alc......left it dry for 5 minutes and then 4-5 lite coats of spray lacquer. 2 minutes drying time between coats.
This is the only way this mentor finishes his pens and sometimes the host is right. Very smooth finish without the 'glassy' feel of CA.

Cool! I made a pen using spray lacquer and, Jeff put it on the front page. (2008) Not a thing wrong with using Lacquer for a finish IMO
