Found in the Road

I found a piece of a branch, about the diameter of a soda can, in the road in front of my house. I picked it up to throw it away and I noticed that the end looked like it might be spalting. I got two blanks out of it, the first one didn't survive and this one took a couple of weeks to save. I like it, I might keep this one for myself. Sorry for the crappy pictures.
Both pictures are the same pen just different sides.

Nice job! I have made several pens from branches with great results. Still have some branches in a box somewhere that I picked up a couple of years ago.

I had to drive in to town earlier. This is michigan. You said..."Found in the Road"...all I can find in the road is a hole, or a hole converted into a bump! Millions of them!
