This was an interesting pen to build. The customer supplied me with a chunk of fordite (basically just accumulated layers of automotive paint), and wanted me to incorporate it into a fountain pen. The pen is built largely of black ebonite, as the fordite is far too unstable and brittle to use as the structural parts of the pen. The clip is hand made from bronze, and the nib is a vintage Sheaffer. I was amazed at how the fordite looked once turned and finished. Overall a super fun project!

Simply beautiful! I love your work.

Thanks for sharing. (The colors in the layers are unique, and well represented in the final turning). :good:

Stunningly Beautiful Pen John,
Glorious Profile, and Proportions together with the Utilization of Ebonite and a Magnificent Block of Automotive Paint Waste.
The Placement of the Fordite Paint Block, to create and Achieve such a Balanced Overview of Paint Colour Changes, is Fantastic.
The Inspiration to Create a Bronze Clip, was Ingenious, Not only was it Workable, but Matched Perfectly to Overall Colour of the Fordite.
Truly a Stunning Pen.
Congratulations,
Brian.
