Flame box elder fountain

Haven't posted much in SOYP lately since I was 6 weeks out of the shop. Finished up a few today and felt this one deserved posting just because of the coloring in this piece of FBE.

FBE is so strange. You never quite know what you are going to get until it's turned to the final size. The outside of this blank really didn't project the coloring quite the way it turned out. I had honestly put this one aside some time ago along with a few others that I wasn't sure if I wanted to see them through or not. I'm glad I did.

It's just a few light coats of thin CA for finish and I stopped sanding at 1k and just buffed with the flannel wheel (no compound) to keep a soft satin sheen. I did't want a high gloss to detract from the warmth of the FBE and it also helps the match the non-gloss finish of the kit.

It was one of the first pens to go to a new owner this past weekend. I actually grew a bit attached to this one.
