I'm just starting out and these are the first two ive ever made. I made a pen and pencil set. Slimline in zebrawood. I was prepared to throw it away.it was at least keepable by my admittedly low standards

That's a great way to see how much better you have gotten. You'll see all the little imperfections when you started.

That is a good start Jerry. To me, the slims are more challenging to turn than the bigger pens. Keep turning. Get some digital calipers and don't trust the bushings to be the perfect diameter. They rarely are - especially slims.
