I had such a warm welcome to the forum that I figured I would post some more pens from the gallery just for the heck of it. Again, I would like to thank Curtis and Eugene for the blanks.

Those blanks were from Curtis, this one was from Eugene.

Enjoy the images everyone and as I get a bit better at turning I'll get into the wood shop and work on a couple ideas I had for my own blanks...mainly wood since I don't have the talent that Curtis and Eugene have.

My art site with larger images: www.flickr.com/photos/twise/

Thanks again everyone

Respectfully
Tim:)

:biggrin:Ha ha ha, ok... I'll have to take some pictures of my failed turns that either blew out or chunked as a result of the bushings sticking from the CA finish. I have a bag full of blanks as well that were trashed as a result of the drill press jacking things up, but hey...we normally post what we're proud of right?

The very first weekend I started turning I made these 5 pens as seen below and while the pictures look good they lack the luster of a squared end and thinck heavy CA finish from a couple months of trial and error:beat-up:

Then my first castings that I spent a week on with adding cigar leafs and vintage bands resulted in white residue from the CA I used to attach the items. I thought the casting would cover it, but it showed right up as seen in this image.

After this I went back to the Barry Gross Acrylic DVD and tried again and this time it turned out pretty sweet. I used an Educational $5 Silver Certificate (Copy) and was pretty happy. The cap turned out, but the base had a small bubble in it and I couldn't justify using it...so, back to casting.
