Nothing unusual, just my first with this kit.
Black w/ gold Tru-Stone.

The picture doesn't reduce very well.

Thanks everyone. I'd been holding out on trying this kit because I don't have
the eye to know what goes well with anything else.
(What's WRONG with wearing stripes and plaids, anyway?)
It works with my leisure suit..

Thanks to Richard (randbcrafts) for the 'bonus' blank!

Charlie,
That one would look good riding around in my shirt pocket. I like it!

Alton,
Ya..it would look good in your shirt pocket but it would look GREAT in my shops showcase.

Perfect pen Charlie.

Someone give a link to a good trustone source so I can spend a bunch more money and add to the stack of various blanks I have to turn...lol.

I bought a couple to try, then found Richard, got the order and immediately
ordered twice as much. Good prices, GREAT communication (even put up
with newbie questions from me) and fast shipping too. Really nice blanks..
so nice that I might just stick to Tru-Stone and burls from now on.

Well .. that and casting, if I ever get the hang of THAT ..
(ruined 10 more tubes last night..)

An important lesson:

Thanks again for all the kind comments.

I learned an important lesson today.
I made up a few pens to donate to a local women's shelter, who is about to
hold an auction to raise funds. I thought this Jr. Statesman might make a
nice addition to the items up for bid next month.

The lesson?

Never mention the suggested retail value of a good pen while someone
is holding said pen over a stone floor.

I had to replace the top section of the pen. Fortunately, I was able to
remove the parts, but Barons, Gents and Statesmen don't like to give up
their center bands without a fight. I had to 'peel' away the brass tube in
order to get the center band out. The pen came out OK though.
