First Rollerball - Atrax

I just finished my first Rollerball!
It's an Atrax with an unknown wood. Anyone know what it might be?
I turned it between centers without bushings.

Still experimenting with the photography so any feedback would be appreciated.

Stuart, Love the Pen.
Fit and Finish is Terrific.
I am not a Photographer, and there are several members, whose expertise and comments are probably more relevant than mine.
IMHO I would like to have the faint shadow under the pen eliminated if possible, while it gives "Reality" to the Pen Photograph, when coupled with the faint reflection of your Set, I found it a little "Off Putting" and distracting.
I do like your Framing. The Pen sits well within your Photograph.

Some quick editing in Piccasa 3 a free program..

Your white balance is probably on the wrong setting so your camera thinks its a different kind of light source. Then I added a touch of light to brighten up a little.

It could be a lace oak of some kind.

I kinda like what you did. But I'm actually trying to get the tan background. i have some tan synthetic fabric with with a piece of glass over it.
I've tried both black and white backgrounds, but I seem to like the tan the best.

What do you guys think of the tan?

Yes, I think it that would add to the photo if I got rid of that shadow.

lacewood is very soft when turned....at least the blanks that i have turned.

Looks like some lace sheoak I've turned..fairly light though..Very nice pen too!

that was my guess also. i think it has like 5 names hairy oak being another one
