I started turning around Christmas of last year. I feel like I have improved greatly due to this site. I am including pens from the beginning to now. I have started segmenting my own blanks and plan on starting to stabilize and cast my own blanks. I appreciate everyones input and all of the inspiration I have gotten from this site. I will try to arrange pictures from start to present. Please let me know what you think and any areas of improvement.
Thanks,
Travis

Welcome to the IAP family from South Australia.

If those are from your beginnings, I will look forwards to see what you will do when you get some experience behind you.

You are a natural and a very talented one, what I see is more the work of someone with some years of experience with pens, very creative designs, great shapes, quality fit and finishes, what else can I say...?:biggrin:

Watch out boys, we have another "player" in the house...!:)

Cheers

Welcome to the forum. Great bunch of pens to start with. Don't know if you've connected with any of them yet, but there are 4-5 woodturning clubs in the DFW area. I know there's one in Denton, too. I drive from Abilene to Ft Worth because that's the closest club to me. If you can't find one, send me a private message and I'll go onto the AAW site and find one for you.

Wow, the inlay and segmenting work in your last two pens is very impressive! I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to seeing your future projects. Great work!

Travis, what a fine collection and demonstration of your skill as a craftsman, and fine judgement as an artist. You inspire with your work.

Glorious Assembly of Pens, Travis.
There are just too many to Critque,
In General, Excellent Choice of Hardware,
Beautiful Blanks, Great Fit and Finish.
And a Special mention of Your Segmenting.
Excellently Conceived and Executed, Beautiful Joints, and Great Continuity.
A suggest is that you look closely at your Photographs, and Compare those with the Dark Background, to those with the Light Background.
IMO the Light Background shows more Details of the Pen.
Congratulations,
Brian.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I hope to improve upon my skill and my pens. Brian, I took your advice. The pen I finished yesterday I used a white back ground for the picture. It does look better.
Thanks,
Travis
