Hi folks, This is a tree I milled two days ago, I microwaved dry as i had to satisfy my curiosity, I believe it may be spotted gum or scribbly gum. CA finish sanded to 2000 W&D. Thanks for looking
regards
Joel

I like the nice clean lines. The fit is great. The wood is clean and simple but with just enough character. I do not like fat pens so the straight lines on this pen are just right.

Nice looking pen! That wood looks good. What type of pen kit is this?
Hi Billy, thanks. The supplier I got the kit from calls it a "pen 2" I'm sure it has a name but would need to find out.

So how long did you microwave it? Before you cut it or after you cut to size.
I rough turned a 1"sq spindle blank 6" long, and zapped it in 10-15 second bursts with a cup of water in the microwave, remove allow to cool and weigh with gram scales until it didnt lose any more weight, then finish turned.
I love doing this when I have just milled a tree I cant wait to see what it will look like, here's part of the milled tree

Wow! The grain on that wood is amazing and the finish really makes it pop. Like the slim lines and the kit, not overpowering the blank. Excellent work!
