This is my 2nd Jr. Gents in Blue Mahoe. This is a gift for a Christian brother who was born in Jamaica (grew up in So. FL). His wife wanted me to make a pen for him and I asked if she could get me some Blue Mahoe wood from Jamaica (the national tree of Jamaica I believe). She called her father-in-law and he said no problem "I'll just go out and cut a piece off for you." :D Well, it came Saturday and here it is.

The light color is the sap wood. It reminded me a lot of walnut, but softer and it has a peppery smell to it. Now I have two more to make, one for my friend's wife and his father.

Chris,
Sweet looking pen. I've been trying to get some to sell, but it's extremely expensive. I hope the wood was dry when you turned it. It has very interesting graining.

Angie, yours is more the color I've seen, but it's probably not from a branch. Nice job.
