Haven't done a wood pen in ages. This is my first fountain pen and I went for coconut. I noticed it chipped like crazy, so I stabilised it first in an acetone / acrylic solution. Finished with CA.

Slight undercut on the lid which I'm not happy about. The material left on the tube after turning is desperately thin! Much less than 1mm.

All in all, really pleased.

Beautiful pen. I notice that we all tend to be much harsher on ourselves than people that do not make pens.

I wasn't happy with the finish on the pen at first: the small specks in the coconut are terribly hard, which the main part of the material is quite soft, so the finish was bumpy. I took the pen apart (a challenge in itself), sanded the CA off and built up the finish again.

Unfortunately my photgraphy skills do it no justice. (I MUST MUST MUST read gerryr's article.) On the other hand, if I could take a decent photo, it would show up all the flaws!!
