My first attempt at fountain pennery...

Not perfect, but not bad for a first attempt!

Light tent? No.

Just a tripod and a basic digital camera. The lighting in my office is not wonderful for photography, so I had to open the exposure on the camera a little... to about 1 second. This let lots of light into the camera, and makes the pen look quite fancy!

Thanks for the encouragement... this is pen #3 overall, and after each pen I feel a little better about

The fit looks good but I can't tell anything about the finish since the photo is too dark. Also, I would say white balance is off since the photo has an overall yellow cast to it. It looks to have photographed with incandescent lighting which is decidedly yellow. You should be able to adjust white balance to correct for that. You can get the exposure correct by putting a piece of white paper in the same light and taking test shots until you get one that is white, then use the same setting for shooting the pen.
